DIY Wardrobe Makeover

J bought a new wardrobe for me to house my clothes. The whole wardrobe was a boring walnut brown when we first bought it. And it made the room look smaller because of its dark colour. Decided to lighten it up and purchased some wall decals online and we spent an afternoon transforming the doors a bright and shiny white. After which, I added on a row of 'I Love Paris' decals to break up the monotonous white. The colours also fit in with the colour of our new bed frame and his existing wardrobe. We are both very pleased with the final outcome.

Gifts for my 姐妹s

I was thinking of what to get as gifts for my 姐妹s when I chanced upon these on Gmarket. They were pretty cheap but I did not like the original beads that came with it. When I showed my mum, she also commented that the beads looked small. So I decided to do a bit of DIY and bought some beads of the sizes that I wanted, a reel of fishing line and Voila! My own semi-DIY-ed gifts for my 姐妹s. I also bought one for myself and rebead-ed it with grey pearls instead. Rather then run of the mill corsages, they will be wearing these pretty babies instead!

Super love these bracelets. I hope my girls like it too!

DIY Ring "Pillow"

A bit overdued but here are the pics for my ring 'pillow' which matches my red and white theme. I got the bears FOC from SK Jewellary when we got our wedding bands. Finally got the bears to stay put by using epoxy glue. The bears dropped off once the hot glue cooled.

1 month ..

My apologies for not updating frequently in the past 2 weeks. It was more a lack of interesting topics to blog about than not having the time to blog.

With 1 month left till our solemnisation, there are some loose ends that needs to be tied up. We just confirmed my hand bouquet with 85 Flowers this afternoon. It will be similar to the picture below but with white pearl strands over the petals.

For my makeup and hairstyle, I have decided to let J's friend do it for me and it'll be a trial session for us to decide if we will be using them for our AD next year. From the samples that I have seen of the works of J's friend, I have confidence that he will do a good job. 

As for Project wedding pillow, I have not started on it yet, but the stuffs needed for the project save for a length of red and white ribbon are ready. This should be a simple enough job that can be completed in 2 hours max and I should be able to finish it over this long National Day weekend.

Something random that I came across while surfing through the wedding websites, I love how the red and white theme is presented here. It so happens that monday is our national day and our country's colours are also in the above mentioned colours .. Which also happens to be my wedding theme colours too ...

Project DIY - Ring Pillow

Another Sunday gone ..

Its been a pretty productive day today. Did my mani and pedi this morning before meeting my parents to buy a DVD recorder for their room and getting some containers from Toyogo before heading home for shabu-shabu .. chinese steamboat style. I also managed to finish up the invitations card for our solemnisation. My fingers are hurting now from all the cutting and pasting .. But I am very happy with my finished products.

2 more months ..

.. To our solemnisation. Everything is on track but I am getting lazy. I have bought the materials for the invitation cards and the boutonnieres and corsages. But due to my laziness, they are all chucked into a box on my desk. I will have to start preparing the invitation cards by this weekend as I will be meeting some of my girls next week. Can take the chance to pass it to them too. Gotta get J to help me with the invitations this weekend.

I will also have to start doing up the boutonnieres and corsages too. In case it does not turn out how I want it to, I still have time to order them from the florists.

Speaking of florists, I have gotten some quotations but they are all so expensive. Once the salesgirls know that you need a bouquet for solemnisation, the price will double sometimes even triple. But the size of the bouquet is almost as big as those hand bouquets that girls always receive from guys. I am left with one more option that is to ask my cousin-in-law who works as a florist to give me a quote. Hopefully her prices are much cheaper.

As for my birdcage veil, I will be doing away with it as it will be vying for attention with my gown. So I just be tonging my hair and doing a low side ponytail. For bride-to-bes who would like to DIY their own birdcage veil you can look here, here and here.

Hopefully by the end of this month I can get more things off my TO-Do list so that the final month will not be so rush. J's birthday is also coming up next month and I have absolutely no inkling of what to get for him. But, I have already booked a hotel room for his birthday so that we can have a private celebration. Watch out for a review of the hotel after 15 August.

Wedding Monogram

I've completed our wedding monogram which follows our wedding theme colours using Microsoft Words. I am a photoshop idiot and have not had the time to play around with the software yet so I used the simplest software that i could find and here is my end product. Another item off my list!! Yay!! Gonna start on my invitation card next.

eFiling done and customised vows

We eFiled for our solemnisation on ROMs website this afternoon. The process was pretty straightforward and it was all done in 5 mins. All we needed was the JPs license number, IC number of the Bride and Groom and the 2 witnesses (in our case it was his mom and my dad's), venue and time (if doing it outside of ROM) and most importantly my credit card for payment and we were good to go.

I have also drafted out the wordings and layout of the invitation cards today. Will print it out on plain paper and see how it looks like. If everything is fine, I can go ahead and buy the actual paper for printing and start doing up the invitation cards.

We might also be preparing our own vows to be used during the ceremony. This would make it more meaningful . Since I can't have my dinner at the location that I want and have to cater to my parents wishes, I want to make this solemnisation extra special.

ROM hairstyle

I am thinking of using this hairstyle for my ROM. Its just a simple side ponytail with the ends curled. Going to practice with my curling iron so that I can DIY and save up on a having a hairstylist.

These curls were from the mini makeover on Sunday. I just tied my hair into a side ponytail to get the style.

Birdcage Veils ..

I have been thinking about what kind of hairstyle i would want for my solemnisation because i have decided against wearing a necklace as my gown has designs on the bodice and a necklace would be a tad too much. So, I have decided to bring the attention higher up, to my hair and face.  I want something different from the normal updo but not something too elaborate too. I was having a huge headache trying to find something that both me and J would like until i stumbled across this ...

Just a simple clip like what Drew Barrymore wore to the Grey Gardens Premier ..

These veils are perfect for me. I can have a simple high ponytail or a low side ponytail or i can do a haif ponytail. So far i have only seen these selling at Chomel but the veils are very short .. I want something that can at least cover my eyes so i have decided to DIY my own Birdcage Veil..

Solemnisation favours and Placecards

I am going to DIY my own placecards cum favours for our solemnisation. I have a rough idea of what i am going to DIY. Going to start sourcing for materials once i have decided on the colour theme of the wedding.

I am now thinking of getting a pair of white lace high heel shoes for my ROM. But i have already gotten one silver pair with lots of blings for my photoshoot and i have not worn them yet. It'll be a waste of money if i get another pair and just wear them for the ceremony. But i think the lace pair will complement my dress better.. HOW?? Decisions .. Decisions .. Decisions ..
