Grand Mecure Roxy Hotel

We have finally decided on our solemnisation venue after looking at soo many places. It will be Grand Mecure Roxy Hotel on 8 Sept 2010. We will be holding it in the boardroom rather than at the poolside for reasons non other than the difference in the price and that both J and I perspire very easily. We are going down to the hotel tomorrow evening to pay the deposit and sign the contract. Hopefully they are able to extend the perks for the wedding showcase for us tomorrow.

Yay!! One item off my To-Do list.

Birdcage Veils ..

I have been thinking about what kind of hairstyle i would want for my solemnisation because i have decided against wearing a necklace as my gown has designs on the bodice and a necklace would be a tad too much. So, I have decided to bring the attention higher up, to my hair and face.  I want something different from the normal updo but not something too elaborate too. I was having a huge headache trying to find something that both me and J would like until i stumbled across this ...

..

A birdcage veil .. with or without a facinator ..

Something simple with flowers ..

Or feathers ..

.. or ..

Slightly more elaborate with a little hat ..

.. or ..

Just a simple clip like what Drew Barrymore wore to the Grey Gardens Premier ..

These veils are perfect for me. I can have a simple high ponytail or a low side ponytail or i can do a haif ponytail. So far i have only seen these selling at Chomel but the veils are very short .. I want something that can at least cover my eyes so i have decided to DIY my own Birdcage Veil..

Big is Sexy

Check out these clips on the interview with the contestants from the Miss/Ms Amazing Singapore 2010 inaugural Plus Size Pageant

Big is really sexy and big girls should walk out with more confidence :)

There are more and more shops and online blogshops sprouting out around the island and i think this goes to show that people are gradually accepting plus size women and not looking at us as if we are lazy and unsuccessful. In fact, I find that i carry myself with much more confidence now because i have already developed a very thick layer of skin and i do not bother about how others see me or what they say. Words can be hurtful but they can also make you stronger.

SO to all plus size gals out there, Love yourself! Love your Curves!!

Site Visiting Saturday

Last Saturday J and I went site visiting at Grand Mecure, Furama Riverfront, Pioneer Spring at Safra Mount Faber and Peony Jade at Keppel Bay ..

After much discusions, we have finally shortlisted Grand Mecure and Furama Riverfront for our ROM. I liked the idea of solemnizing by the sea at Peony Jade Keppel Bay. But we were concerned that our grandparents will not be able to handle the walking to and fro from the gazzabo to the restaurant. Not forgetting that both J and I perspire very easily .. SO no seaside solemnisation for us.

I quite like Grand Mecure for its seaview .. Cannot solemnise in front of the sea got sea view also not bad .. I also like that they have an Oriental Theme which i can use for my solemnisation. The photos taken from my iPhone are not as clear .. Heres some pictures taken by Grand Mecure staffs.

We are also considering Furama Riverfront for the waterfall scenery ..

We'll have to make a decision on our venue soon and so that we can efile on the 8th of June .. But the chances of us choosing Grand Mecure over Furama is quite high as the boardroom provides a much more private setting compared to Furama which is in the public area.. Moreover, Grand Mecure is throwing in one night stay and they are able to provide me a room for changing unlike Furama..

On a side note, Mummy has recommended a JP whom she and Daddy knows and who alos shares the same surname as us. Like us he is also a Hainanese. Most probably we will be inviting him to be our JP since my parents knows him. He can also converse with my granny in hainanese and i know that this will make her very happy. :)

Solemnisation favours and Placecards

I am going to DIY my own placecards cum favours for our solemnisation. I have a rough idea of what i am going to DIY. Going to start sourcing for materials once i have decided on the colour theme of the wedding.

I am now thinking of getting a pair of white lace high heel shoes for my ROM. But i have already gotten one silver pair with lots of blings for my photoshoot and i have not worn them yet. It'll be a waste of money if i get another pair and just wear them for the ceremony. But i think the lace pair will complement my dress better.. HOW?? Decisions .. Decisions .. Decisions ..

Colour Themes for ROM

I chose my ROM gown during my trip in Taiwan. It is a spag tube long dress. White based with red flowers.
So the theme for my solemnisation will mainly consist of white and red.

Some colour themes i am considering are .. ..

Red and white with abit of pink and orange for that feeling of spring with a bit of sunshine..

.. Red and white with a touch of black for that touch of class and elegance ..

 .. I'm considering getting a similar head dress or a tiara ..

.. Red, white and blue for the something blue in the old folk lore ..

.. Red, white and gold for the oriental feel ..

.. Red, white and pink for that little girl in me ..

Template needs more work ..

I'm going to start editing the layout of my template over the next few days. Looks so boring. Gonna add some pictures and try to jazz it up a bit.

Hopefully i'll be able to finish looking through my edited taiwan PS pics so that i can send it back to the BS for additional touchups ASAP. I so wanna go back to Taiwan!!

We signed up with Judy Wedding at one of the Bridal fair at Raffles City. I'll update more on the Taiwan trip and the Photoshoot in a later post. Gotta start checking the photos and then i'm going to turn in for the night. Good night to whoever's reading my humble blog :)

1st Post

After such a long hiatus from blogging, I'm finally back to the blogosphere. This time to chronical my journey in preparing for my ROM and AD.

Just got of the phone with Mr Tan. We are now in the process of choosing our solemnization venue for our ROM in Sept. We have currently shortlisted a few places and have visited a couple of places last Sat. Will be visiting more sites this Saturday.

We visited The Tavern at Seletar Country Club last Saturday and found that the place although quite out of the way (not recommended if most of your guests don't drive) had quite a nice background for phototaking during the solemnization as it overlooked the golf course. However, they were doing some renovations on the golf course and part of the view was blocked by the zinc fences that they erected on the grass. The coordinator told us that if our ROM was to fall on Oct he would be confident that the fences would be gone. But too bad he could not confirm that it would be gone so we had to forgo this venue. Future BTBs might like to consider SCC as a possible venue if you are planning to ROM after Oct 2010.
